Hi, I’m Katyi
I grew up scrapbooking with whatever photographs and paper I could find, stealing my mom’s disposable cameras, and writing stories of great love and great loss. The extremes were where I lived (still do, kind of) and that blessing has opened my eyes to how raw love translates: in the day-to-day, candid moments. It’s everywhere, all the time, and like good lighting, you just have to look for it. Once it’s found, you’re golden.
(pronounced like Katie – but that’s a story for another time)
A little about me:
Photography is my third career! Before I was a preserver of love stories in the Hudson Valley, I was a critical care nurse in New York City, and before that I was an accountant. Looking back, I would never change my path because it has led me to right where I am meant to be.
I am the most organized, disorganized person you’ll meet; type C, if you will. My house is a constant clutter of toddler toys, clean laundry draped on chairs and beds, books, and papers with scribbled notes (the idea, love, and grocery types). I am almost always in mismatched socks. Yet, on your wedding day, I know everyone’s name and have your timeline tattooed on my brain. No fork in your plan messes me up because I have plan B-Z ready to go. I remember the first reason you told me why you love your spouse-to-be, and I document with it all in mind – it’s all about balance!
I am incredibly nostalgic, to my core. On your wedding day, I am extremely intentional about capturing the images that you will look back on as your live your dream, knowing that these will be some of your most valued memories. Photography is to me, a love letter.
Yikes, yes – let’s get this controversial elephant out of the room! When the sun sets, the band has gone home, and it’s just you and your incredible best friend for life, the tangible memory of this day will be what you get to hold on to and cherish forever. So, splurge a little! 80-year-old you will be glad you did.
(Note – to the other vendors who make your day as special as it is, you are all very amazing, and very, very important)
I am deeply interested in YOU, the real you. Whatever your thing is, I’m here for it. Whoever you want to celebrate with, and how you want to do so, let’s go. I connect to people more than I do a style, both in my personal life and my professional (which, let’s face it, is also very personal to me!)
